Activities Promoting Healthy Aging

Lack of activities can prevent you from living healthy. When you do not enjoy activities, you may feel fatigue or find it difficult to sleep at night. When you awake in the morning, you may feel tired until you finally fall asleep. As we, age our body change and we have to make changes to accommodate our lives.

Having a good night sleep makes the mind think more clearly. A good night sleep also boosts your energy while controlling your weight. You can also make decisions with less stress. Sleeping well at night makes our immune system stronger to keep us healthier.  Researchers have proved that a good nights sleep is necessary for our health.  Researchers have found that lack of sleep reduces the growth hormones in our bodies, since it changes muscles to fat. Sleep overall is most important, yet it stands behind activities. To improve your health, try walking each day.

Walking will help to loosen our muscles, reduces stress and depression along with anxiety. By reliving these things, it will help us to sleep for a longer and deeper period.  So, when we wake up in the morning we feel happier and more rested.

When you exercise, you get a good night sleep, which promotes metabolism. Without the right amount of sleep, our bodies crave energy. Our body will release insulin or glucose into the bloodstream, which slows down metabolism. This action causes the body to gain weight, rather than control weight.

When a person feels exhausted, they will feel weak and repressed from enjoying activities. This leads to additional problems. Sleeping right balances out our bodies giving us, more energy leading to more activities that will satisfy our sleep needs.

What to avoid:
To rest proper and feel active you must reduce your intake of caffeine, nicotine, harmful chemicals, such as over-the-counter meds that keep you awake, alcohol and so on. The chemicals and substances will keep you awake. Try to avoid drinking anything after 8 p.m. in the evening. Nicotine should be avoid if possible, yet if you must smoke try to avoid smoking after 8 p.m.

Start a walking program in the morning to help wake you up, while boosting your energy. You will feel better since the joints will feel flexible enough to move freely. In addition, walking will help you burn fat and calories. You’ll notice a big change in how you feel the rest of the day.  Start out walking at a slow steady pace for as far as your comfortable.  Each day pick up the pace a bit and walk further. Just remember when walking that you want to work up to a steady brisk walk to make you sweat but not out of breath. Take a short walk before and after meals to calm your nerves, and burn calories too, it will give you energy, relieve that stress from the long day and help you sleep.

If you start a walking program for yourself, it is a lot more fun if you have someone to go with you. Talk to that neighbor you don’t know and maybe they’ll walk with you. Just think about it; you’ll be acquainted with someone new, talk about new things will relieve stress and get in you exercise as well. This might help that neighbor too who maybe hasn’t seen or talked to anyone in a couple of days and than they can sleep better at night.

After walking that brisk walk your doing be sure to cool down. When walking at a vigorous pace your heart rate will go up and it needs to be back to normal. Just walk a bit slow and relaxing until you’ve cooled down.

If you can’t go to sleep at night instead of getting up and turning on the TV try pacing around the house. Do some stretching and shake your arms and legs. Even walking around the house can relax you especially when everyone else is in bed and you can relax more.

Car Hobby

Toyota Yaris review
If you are looking for a reliable small car that is good on fuel then the Yaris certainly fits the bill. Whilst not startling performance, the 1.3 vvti won't set the world on fire but will keep up fine with everyday traffic, the smaller engined ones will struggle to get up hills without dropping down a gear (or two). The engine is quiet and refined with the usual Toyota bullet proof reliability and can return over 60 MPG if the digital dash readout is to be believed. The latest models come with a 6 speed manual altough the older 5 speed manuals are every bit as good. No need to fear the automatic transmission either as again the Toyota reliability comes into play and they will go the distance with ease.
Interior is spacious, exceptionally so on the now discontinued Verso model and whilst the usual Japanese slightly bland hard plastic and functional rather than stylish look to it is by no means offensive and is very well put together and no rattles considering how much hard plastic is used. Seats are comfortable and supportive and the boot space is good for a car this size.

The Yaris Verso is a favourite with older drivers as it is very easy to get in and out of due to it's increased height and it's only flaw is that it is not very good in a crosswind, the light weight and high sides mean it is a struggle to keep under control in high winds, the standard Yaris does not suffer from this, just the Verso.

Toyota owners tend to be sensible carefull drivers in the main so picking up a good used Yaris is not the usual lottery, my best advice would be to always go for the ones that are made in Japan, some were assembed in the UK and some in France but I have driven all manner of Toyotas over the years and it's been my experience that the ones made in Japan never give any trouble where the others suffer from niggley problems, with the Japanese cars you are far less likely to get a 'Monday morning car'.
In fact there is every chance you will forget what it's like to have to buy parts for a car, I've had mine 9 years and apart from normal servicing I've only ever put 2 tyres on it.
Insurance is cheap - group 3-5, is also low on emmissions so tax is cheap as well.
If you are looking for a small, reliable car then you have to check out Yaris
Advantages: Bulletproof reliability, excellent MPG
Disadvantages: Interior bland and plasticy

Mixed Martial Arts - More Than a Hobby

By Evelyn Lois
There are many different sports or activities that we like to do in our spare time. People use the outlet of sports or other recreational activities in order to stay in shape, stay focused, or to get out some stress that is in their lives. Whatever the reason the individual decides to engage in the extra curricular activity does not matter as much as what they get out of it. The latest craze has been getting involved in mixed martial arts due to aggression as well as the fact that it is a way to defend yourself if you are in danger. However, this art is not a new fad; it has been around for hundred of years, even thousands of years. Not everyone views mixed martial arts fights as sports or ways of defense, they view it as barbaric and unnecessary. No matter what your stance on the topic, there is no denying that it takes dedication, discipline and hard work to master this art.
Whatever your motive, if you want to take some mixed martial arts fighting lessons or mixed martial arts classes for self defense, go right ahead. You know what your reasons and motives are so feel free to look up your local mixed martial arts school and see when they have classes that can fit around your schedule. Sometimes there might not be mixed martial arts schools in your area. It is not uncommon for people to look up mixed martial arts DVD online. They purchase these DVDs in efforts to get an idea of what it takes to be in the classes in person and to do the mixed martial arts workouts to get in shape. Make sure that if you are ready to pursue this art, you understand the intense physical requirements and the mental determination to practice and study. Many teachers and schools also educate students on the philosophy and responsibilities of this art, along with the physical combat of the art itself.
When a person wants to get some mixed martial arts training in order to have the opportunity to fight professionally, they have to go a little more in depth than regular DVDs. They will have to train and prepare like they never have before. Their bodies will never be the same after they put their selves through this training program. They will have to go through such a rigorous training ritual to be able to go against those who have been fighting mixed martial arts for years. It is more than just the working out and the mixed martial arts apparel or mixed martial art clothing that you need to pull it off. Many say it is a mental state of mind that you have to be in, in order to step into a ring against a person that wants to beat you up. When you step into the ring you have to realized, that it is going to be either you or them that will be going down or tapping out.
When the people who think they can get into the ring right now without training see a match in person or on television they actually change their mind all together. This sport and discipline is not for the weak of spirit or strength. These gentlemen are well built and skilled in a form of art and have been for much of their adult life. They have dedicated time, money, and effort to the pursuit of their sport. Some get into the ring realizing that there is a strong possibility that they could lose and get knocked out. Many people have tried to fight competitively and not been able to hang with the big boys.
Whether you enjoy watching the tournaments, have a son or daughter in the sport or have mastered the skill yourself, there is a lot to be learned from this art. Taking the time to excel at such a complex art is a life-skill that will carry into other areas and help you be disciplined in any area you pursue.

hobbies that make money

Need money? Got a hobby? You may just be able to turn your passion into cash. The possibilities are almost endless and the income potential is limited only by your desire. Below are just a few examples of the numerous hobbies that can bring in the cash.
Arts and Crafts
If you have a knack for creating “treasures”, you have a hobby that makes money. Sewing, candle making, knitting, jewelry making and woodworking are a just a few hobbies that are often used to make money. Selling handcrafted wares at weekend markets, online or at local boutiques and consignment stores are often the most preferred methods for craftspeople.
Collecting
Stamps, posters, baseball cards, celebrity memorabilia, antiques… collectors world wide invest money in goods they hope will increase in value over time. Although timing the sale of collectables for maximum profit is a guessing game, there is still plenty of money to be made in selling collections of almost any sort.
Outdoor Adventurers
If hunting or fishing is your hobby, leading expeditions is a great way to enjoy your hobby while making money at the same time.
Writing
For those who enjoy exercising their creativity through the written word, writing can bring in anything from pocket change to a full-time salary. The days of query letters – and the subsequent rejection letters that all to often follow – are almost a thing of the past. Thanks to the internet, writers (hobbyists and professionals alike) can earn residual income from writing for profit-sharing sites or ghostwriting for blogs and web portals.
Teaching
OK, teaching may not be a hobby for most, but educating others on the ends and outs of your specific hobby offers a wonderful way to earn cash. Teaching belly dancing at a community center, or drawing/painting at a local art store are but a few examples.

What your hobby?

I was just reading the "What would you do if you have 1 billion cash?" thread and my friend said she would indulge more in her hobbies. That got me wondering. What are your hobbies or what hobby would you really like the chance to take up? I'm just curious what everyone does to relax a bit and forget about all the craziness going on in this world. I know everyone will want to list my blog as a hobby, but let's be truthful--it's really an obsession
